Howard Joseph Walker IV
General Manager, Ruffino’s Restaurant Baton Rouge
As General Manager of Ruffino’s Baton Rouge for over 15 years, Howard Joseph Walker IV embodies the energy and commitment that defines this iconic Louisiana restaurant. Guided by the philosophy of “LAVA”—Lights, Atmosphere, Volume, and Ambience—a concept instilled by Ruffino’s founder Ruffin Rodrigue, Howard strives to provide a lively and welcoming space where patrons can come to Celebrate Life. Known for his “plus one” approach to service, he encourages his team to deliver experiences that go beyond expectations, ensuring every guest feels celebrated and valued.
Howard oversees all aspects of Ruffino’s operations—from staff management and cost control to guest satisfaction. His leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the high standards of service that Ruffino’s is famous for, blending fine dining with genuine Southern hospitality. Inspired by the legacy Ruffin built, Howard remains dedicated to sustaining Ruffino’s reputation as a landmark where guests feel at home, celebrating life’s moments together.
Outside of Ruffino’s, Howard is a devoted family man. He lives in Baton Rouge with his two children, Joey and Juliet, and a few beloved pets—including a three-legged cat and a flock of chickens. You can find him enjoying Saints games, fishing, and spending time with his family when he’s not at the restaurant.
